Rose Collis continues with her season of thematic events, focusing on Science, Literature , Politics, Art, Royalty, Cinema and Theatre in Kemp Town and its environs.
This month Rose dusts off her bunting and waves a flag at the Kemp Town area’s many royal connections, including Queen Victoria, the Earl of Bristol, Queen Adelaide, King Edward VII, Princess Diana and, of course, Queen Elizabeth II

Rose is getting artistic

Following her hugely successful ‘Up Your Street‘ Supper Club events at The Swan in 2011, writer, historian and performer Rose Collis continues her new season of thematic events, focusing on Science, Literature , Politics, Art, Royalty, Cinema and Theatre in Kemp Town and its environs.

This month, as England’s biggest arts festival commences, Rose unveils portraits of some of the area’s visual artists, including Angus McBean, Ronald Searle, D’Oyly John, Walter Sickert and Aubrey Beardsley.

Accompanied by a delicious three course light supper.

Saturday night is Esther night

As this weekend is the first of the month the lovely Esther Bennett is back with us to jazz the night away.

This Saturday Esther will be joined by pianist Joss Peach as her regular Swan Partner in Jazz, Mark Edwards, has a prior commitment. Joss is a Kemptown  and has toured the UK extensively with the big band for the Rat Pack tribute ‘Live From Las Vegas’, the hit stage show remembering the classic masterpieces of Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior.

Rose Collis is “On The Town”

Join us for the first of the 2012 series of Kemptown History Supper Clubs. The history of our fascinating neighbourhood told through the lives of the residents who’ve impacted Kemptown, Brighton and the world.

 

In “Scientific Kemptown” Rose looks at the life of Magnus Volk, the history of  The Chain Pier as well as the first plane to land in Kemptown, and how Daddy Long Legs transported tourists along underwater tracks to Rottingdean!
